This is one of the most important archaeological sites on the entire American Continent, located at 45 minutes from La Paz, near to the Titicaca Lake.

According to many scientists, the Tiwanaku culture could be the mother of the American civilizations.

Nowadays there are a lot of secrets that are being "unearthed" for many archaeologists, because it is believed that Tiwanaku still has more than the 80% of its buildings buried.

The population of Tiwanaku based its economy on agriculture and livestock. Its rich architecture is characterized by the decoration with reliefs, for its drawings and for the subsections placed on paths, denoting a vast knwoledge of engineering and astronomy.

The archaeological area is composed of seven major architectural constructions: Kalasasaya, Templete Semisubterráneo (an almost underground temple), Akapana pyramid, Kantatallita, Kerikala, Putuni and Puma Punku.
