Apolobamba Norte

Circuit of the lakes (8days).

This is a new route between the border of Peru (30%) and Bolivia (70%). It’s a beautiful trekking routes through areas with gaps of different colors and especially the wonderful landscapes of snow-capped mountains.

Day 1.- Depart from La Paz early for the village of Katantica (3,700m). The journey takes us past the little visited east side of Lake Titicaca and close to the border with Peru. It is a long day with the drive taking on average 10 hours.

Day 2.- We started our journey to the pass Huancuchi (5.300m), where we see much of the mountain of this range. Descend to the top of the lagoon where we set our camp Suches.

Day 3.- Move along the Laguna Suches then entered a small valley where we found several gaps, reaching the Final Chariacola Laguna, located on the Blue Lagoon. (Peruvian side.) where we set up our camp.

Day 4.- This day we entered a small canyon, continuing along the river that descends from the mountain. We arrived at the beautiful Laguna Saluypata. After a rest we continue ascending and bordering the glacier, we crossed the pass (5.250 m) and set up our camp on the shores of Laguna Icerberg, the landscape is wonderful and the Orc Chauipo entire mountain range.

Day 5.- We go through the base of the mountains Palomanis, we descend the river Orco Chaupi, we continue to Laguna Chocullo, we finally reached the area known as Caballunani where we set our camp.

Day 6.- In Caballunani return to our starting point of the trek.
Day 7.- Free day.
Day 8.- Return to La Paz.
