TIWANAKU - COPACABANA – TREK KHOTIA – PEQUEÑO ALPAMAYO - HUAYNA POTOSI – ILLIMANI

Discover the wonders of Bolivia with this unforgettable tour of its greatest highlights. Starting in La Paz, explore the ancient archaeological site of Tiwanaku, sail across the breathtaking Lake Titicaca—the highest navigable lake in the world—and visit its enchanting islands. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Bolivian Andes as you journey through some of its most stunning landscapes.

Itinerary:

Day 1.- ARRIVAL IN LA PAZ.

Day 2.- LA PAZ –TIWANAKU – RETURN TO LA PAZ.

Tiwanaku, formerly known as Taypi K’ala in the Aymara language, meaning «Central Stone,» is the most significant archaeological site in Bolivia, renowned for its vastness and magnificence.

Day 3.- LAKE TITICACA – COPACABANA.

Day 4.- SUN ISLAND – COPACABANA – KHOTIA.

Visit the island of the sun (Titicaca Lake) – Return to Copacabana and continue by car to Lake Kotiya.

Day 5.- LAGUNA KHOTIA – LAGUNA AJUANI.

Lake Khotia (4,570 m). We slowly begin the trek towards the Andean foothills. Upon reaching the first pass, we begin to descend and in the valley, you can see the three great lakes, after crossing the river we ascend until we reach the Ajuani lagoon.

Day 6.- LAGUNA AJUANI – LAGUNA JURI KHOTA

The trail is winding yet captivating as we progress toward the first pass (4,830 m), then descend to the Sistaña Lagoon, where we take a break for lunch. From this point, the path begins to ascend toward the second pass (4,850 m). Finally, we descend and arrive at the Jurikhota Lagoon, an impressive and secluded spot nestled among snow-covered mountains.

Day 7.- LAGUNA JURIKHOTA – LAGUNA GLACIAL – PASO AUSTRIA – CHIAR KHOTA

From Juri Quta Lagoon, we begin with a steep ascent to reach Glacial Lagoon, a gem nestled at a height of 4,900 meters at the foot of the Condoriri glacier. From there, we continue to climb to a second pass (Paso Austria, 5,140 m). It is recommended to climb to Pico Austria (5,350 m), as its summit offers an excellent viewpoint of the entire Cordillera. After a photo session, we descend to the Chiar Quta lagoon (4,630 m), where we will establish our camp.

Day 8.- CHIAR KHOTA – PICO TARIJA – PEQUEÑO ALPAMAYO.

This day we will leave early (3:00 am). Our first route is to climb Pico Tarija (5,300m), then we will descend along the rock and then continue and climb along the ridge to PEQUEÑO ALPAMAYO (5,425m) until we reach its summit. Then we will return to base camp by the same route. The ascent lasts approximately 5 hours.

Day 9.- PASO JISTAÑA – BASE DE MARIA LLOCO.

We continue with the walk, today’s pass is the Jistaña pass, with an altitude of 4,900m, which takes us to the valley of Racacha valley. We will camp near the community of Maria Lloco 4,450 m.

Day 10.- PASO MILLUNI – HIGH CAMP HUAYNA POTOSI

Our last step is Huallatani (4,850m). From here, on a clear day, we can enjoy the impressive views of the María Lloco mountains and the imposing Huayna Potosí.When we reach the Huayna Potosi base camp, we take a break and take advantage of the opportunity to have lunch and then begin the ascent to high camp (5,200 m.).

Overnight in the local refuge.

Day 11.- HIGH CAMP – SUMMIT HUAYNA POTOSI – LA PAZ.

After breakfast we begin the ascent to the summit of Huayna Potosi (6,088 m). The climb takes 5 hours. Once at the top we can enjoy impressive panoramic views of the Andes Mountains and the sun rising in the east. Then we begin our descent back to base camp where our vehicle will be waiting for us to return to La Paz.

Day 12.- REST.

Day 13.- LA PAZ – BASE CAMP ILLIMANI

Departure from La Paz in a private vehicle to the small town of Pinaya (3 and a half hours drive). After checking in, we continue to the Illimani base camp.

Day 14.- HIGH CAMP CONDOR’S NEST

A five hour trek mostly on rock to the high camp – the «Condor’s Nest», at 5,550m.

Day 15.- SUMMIT ILLIMANI – BASE CAMP

Early start (2.00am) over glacial terrain up to the summit (6,438m). We then return to the high camp, break camp and continue down to the base camp.

Day 16.- BASE CAMP – PINAYA – RETURN TO LA PAZ

Return to Estancia Pinaya where our vehicle will be waiting, and return back to La Paz.

Day 17.- HOTEL – AIRPORT TRANSFER
