TIWANAKU -COPACABANA – KHOTIA – PEQUEÑO ALPAMAYO
HUAYNA POTOSI – ILLIMANI

Day 1 .- ARRIVAL IN LA PAZ.
Day 2.- LA PAZ –TIWANAKU – RETURN TO LA PAZ.
The most important archaeological place in the country, due to their extension and magnificence. Tiwanaku, formerly called Taypi k´ala that in language Aymara, it means: Central Stone.
Day 3.- LAKE TITICACA – COPACABANA.
Day 4.- SUN ISLAND – COPACABANA – KHOTIA.
Visit the island of the sun (Titicaca Lake) – Return to Copacabana and continue by car to Lake Khotia.
Day 5.- LAGUNA KHOTIA – LAGUNA AJUANI.
We start slowly the hike toward the Andean slopes. Later, Lake Titicaca could be seen at the left. The path leads zigzag-fashion down to arrive at Ajuani lagoon.
Day 6.- LAGUNA AJUANI – LAGUNA JURI KHOTA
The path is winding but appealing until we arrive at Sistaña lagoon, where we take a lunch break. In this point, the path starts ascending toward the summit. We arrive at Jurikhota lagoon, beautiful and isolated, surrounded by snowcapped mountains.
Day 7.- LAGUNA JURIKHOTA – LAGUNA GLACIAL – PASO AUSTRIA – CHIAR KHOTA
From Laguna Jurikhota we begin by ascending up a steep slope to reach Laguna Glacial a jewel nested at an altitude of 4900 meters at the foot of Condoriri.
From there we keep climbing to a second pass (Paso Austria, 5200 m.) before descending on the other side towards base camp, at the edge of Laguna Chiar khota.
Day 8.- LAGUNA JURIKHOTA – LAGUNA GLACIAL – PASO AUSTRIA – CHIAR KHOTA
From Laguna Jurikhota we begin by ascending up a steep slope to reach Laguna Glacial a jewel nested at an altitude of 4900 meters at the foot of Condoriri.
From there we keep climbing to a second pass (Paso Austria, 5200 m.) before descending on the other side towards base camp, at the edge of Laguna Chiar khota.
Day 9.- CHIAR KHOTA – PICO TARIJA – PEQUEÑO ALPAMAYO.
On this day we will begin with an early departure (5:00am). Our first route is to climb the Pico Tarija (5,300m) beyond which we will continue down then back up to PEQUEÑO ALPAMAYO (5,425m). We will then return to base camp. Is a long day.
Day 10 .- PASO JISTAÑA – BASE DE MARIA LLOCO.
We continue trekking, Today’s pass is the Jistaña pass, with an altitude of 4,900m, taking us into the valley of Racahcha valley. There we will camp at the edge of the Hichu khota, at the civilised altitude of 4,450m. Base of the mountain Maria Lloco.
Day 11.- PASO MILLUNI – HUAYNA POTOSI
Our final pass is the Huallatani pass (4,850m). From here, on a clear day we can enjoy the stunning views of the mountains Maria Lloco and the mighty Huayna Potosi.
After lunch we went up to High Camp (5130m.).
Day 12.- CAMPO ALTO – CUMBRE – LA PAZ.
After a very early breakfast we will begin heading up the glacier, aiming towards the east face and arriving at the Pala. We then continue all the way to the top arriving at the summit of Mt. Huayna Potosi (6080 meters), after about six hours of ascent. Once at the top we’ll be able to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Andes Mountains and the sun rising to the east. We will then start our descent back to base camp and onward to Laguna Zongo, where our vehicle will be waiting for us to return to La Paz.
Day 13.- REST.
Day 14.- LA PAZ – CAMPO BASE ILLIMANI
Departure from La Paz by private vehicle toward the small village of Pinaya (3 and half hours trip). From there we start the 3 hours approach hike to Puente Roto, the base camp of the Illimani.
Day 15.- HIGH CAMP CONDOR’S NEST
A five hour trek mostly on rock to the high camp – the «Condor’s Nest», at 5,550m.
Day 16.- SUMMIT ILLIMANI – BASE CAMP
Early start (2.00am) over glacial terrain up to the summit (6,438m). We then return to the high camp, break camp and continue down to the base camp.
Day 17.- BASE CAMP – PINAYA – RETURN TO LA PAZ
Return to Estancia Pinaya where our vehicle will be waiting, and return back to La Paz.
