Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer and Arrival at Base Camp
We depart from La Paz by vehicle towards the Condoriri Valley. From the trailhead, a group of mules will assist in transporting our gear during a 2-hour hike to Chiar Khota Lake, where we will set up our base camp and prepare for the adventure.
Day 2: Introduction to Mountaineering & Acclimatization
In the morning, we will familiarize ourselves with climbing equipment and learn essential techniques such as:
✅ Rope handling and basic knots
✅ Mountain rescue systems
In the afternoon, we will take an acclimatization hike to Pico Mirador, enjoying breathtaking views of the Andean mountains.
Day 3: Ascent to Pico Pirámide & Glacier Skills Training
During this ascent, we will practice key ice and snow climbing skills:
🔹 Rope management and glacier safety
🔹 Proper use of the ice axe in different situations
🔹 Correct walking and climbing techniques with crampons
🔹 Setting up ice anchors using ice screws
🔹 Static and dynamic belaying
Day 4: Advanced Glacier Training
In addition to reinforcing previous techniques, we will introduce more advanced skills:
🧩 Advanced ice axe anchoring techniques
🧩 Crevasse rescue techniques
🧩 Ice screw removal and anchor recovery
🧩 Rappelling practice on technical terrain
Day 5: Pequeño Alpamayo Summit (5,350 m)
We start our summit push early in the morning, applying all the techniques we have learned. Each participant will have the opportunity to lead a section of the route, always under the supervision of our instructors. After reaching the summit, we will return to base camp.
Day 6: Rescue Training & Return to La Paz
On our final day, we will conduct a mountain rescue workshop, covering:
🚑 Transporting injured climbers over rugged terrain
🚑 Constructing an improvised stretcher using ropes
🚑 Safe evacuation techniques
After lunch, we will break camp and begin our journey back to La Paz.
